Luau Cake
This cake was made for a surprise 16th birthday party for a friend's daughter. They had a luau party for her. I had so much fun making this cake. It's a 1/2 sheet cake with 2 mini wonder mold (hula girls) cakes on top. I made the flowers out of royal icing and the sea shells out of candy melts and dusted them with pearl dust.

Barbie
Happy Birthday, Sierra. The Barbie cake is a chocolate cake and the cupcakes are vanilla. I really liked making the dress on the Barbie cake. It was so fun! Everything is made of buttercream frosting (except for the plastic rings on the cupcakes and the actual Barbie doll), and I added some edible glitter to make it sparkle.

Chocolate Eclairs
Chocolate eclairs are one of Jon's favorite desserts. So, I decided to make some for him to take to a pot luck lunch at work. I'm sure they'll go fast. After I made the eclair shells I made some homemade cream filling (basically a cooked pudding), frosted them with chocolate frosting and added a special touch by putting a rosebud on each one.

Good News and Bad News...
The good news is...I won a first place ribbon with this cake at the Salt Lake County Fair.
The bad news is...so did everyone else (except the ONE entry who got 2nd place).
It was still a fun experience to enter a cake at the county fair. I know if I do it again my cake will have to be on a grander scale to win any of the "real prizes" (i.e. Sweepstakes, Best of Show, Judges Favorite, or High Blue). The cakes that were there were amazing.
Edible Images
My friend, Amber Halversen, and her family came from southern Arizona to Provo for BYU graduation. They stayed with us one night and it just happened to be her twin girls' birthday! I was happy I had the chance to make a cake for them. I used whipped cream frosting and edible images. It was my first time using edible images and I thought they worked great. Thanks for letting me be a part of Morgan and Annika's birthday!

Polka Dots and Stripes
This cake is covered and decorated in marshmallow fondant. The ribbon roses and the bow are the only things made out of pre-made gum paste. The 10" layer is Swiss Chocolate cake with chocolate bavarian cream filling. The 6" top layer is white cake with raspberry filling. I hope you and your family enjoyed it, Linda! I really enjoyed making it.

5 Little Dinosaurs Cake
My nephew turned 5 years old and this is the cake that my sister-in-law and I made. The volcano was shaped and then covered in chocolate frosting and then we added crushed oreo "lava rocks". The lava is colored piping gel, and so is the pond water. We made the trees from royal icing leaves and pretzel sticks. Five little dinosaurs and 5 little trees were the perfect touch for a 5-year-old birthday party!

Baby Shower
This is a baby shower cake I got to make for my good friend, Amber. It's a 6" and 9" cake covered in Marshmallow Fondant and decorated with gumpaste decorations. The 9" cake is a blue/white checkerboard cake inside. I would guess that this one took me around 4 hours to decorate. Congratulations Amber and Ryan!

Happy Birthday to Me
Colette Peters
On March 8, 2007 I had an opportunity to meet my cake decorating idol. I love Colette Peter's cakes. I was so excited to get to meet her. I got to talk with her for 10-15 minutes and get some good tips from her. I even got to show her the cakes that I had made. She seemed impressed. My son, Alex, is also in the picture.
